We are proud to celebrate the 100th anniversary of varsity athletics at John Carroll University this year.

From August through May, we’re sharing the stories of the “Men and Women of Carroll.” Follow along on jcu.edu and jcusports.com as we introduce you to the students, coaches, faculty, staff, and administrators who made our Blue Streaks tradition possible.

Our athletics journey began on December 20, 1919, when the men’s basketball team tipped off for the first time. Over the years, our student-athletes, coaches, and staff have built a tradition of excellence that has grown along with our community.

Today, 23 varsity teams proudly wear blue and gold, representing John Carroll as they compete for championships across the country.

In May, we debuted a new visual identity for our athletic teams. The extensive collaborative process took more than 12 months to complete and involved discussions with current and alumni athletes, coaches, athletic administrators, University leadership, and Blue Gold Club members.

The result is a clean and refreshed look, one that recognizes our heritage and tradition, while modernizing the brand for the next generation of Blue Streaks student-athletes.

“Our new look represents our shared experience, as we step forward together into a new era of John Carroll athletics,” said Michelle Morgan, senior director of athletics. “As we begin this journey together, we must reflect on who we are and what we strive to be. This is the foundation of who we are as competitors – a foundation that will propel us into our second century together.”

Teams will celebrate the 100th anniversary with special events and recognitions throughout the year. Make sure to attend games in the coming weeks to see your Blue Streaks in action for the first time as we kick-off our 100th anniversary celebration.
