For students with 60 or more earned credits, your pathway to graduation from JCU will be the same (or shorter) than it would have been at Notre Dame. A personalized degree plan, developed in consultation with your JCU advisor, will keep you on track.

COME AND EXPLORE OUR CAMPUS

Any Notre Dame College student who presents their NDC ID is eligible to take the shuttle bus between NDC and JCU during normal shuttle operations (M-F 7:30am-10:30pm, Saturday, Sunday 12pm-11pm). Throughout the remainder of the spring semester, we invite you to sign up for a meeting with your admission counselor, take a campus tour, or attend JCU speakers, events, and more.

A SEAMLESS TRANSITION

To make your transition as seamless as possible, we are offering the following:

A streamlined application. It’s free, requires no essay, and can be completed in 10 minutes or less.
Guaranteed admission for students in good standing at NDC who are applying to one of our participating programs (listed below).
A guarantee that all credit granted or accepted for transfer by Notre Dame College with a grade of C or above will be accepted by John Carroll, including graduate credits.
For the 2024-25 school year, JCU will match the out-of-pocket cost you paid at Notre Dame College during the 2023-24 school year, with the exception of any athletic scholarships. As an NCAA Division III institution, we are prohibited from providing athletic scholarships to our student athletes.

HOW TO APPLY

NDC students interested in continuing their education at John Carroll should start the process by completing an abbreviated application for admission. As a part of the application, you will be invited to upload unofficial transcripts as well as your financial aid award. We will review your materials and follow up within two weeks to share your admission offer and JCU plan of study.

While we respect the importance of your remaining time at NDC, we want you to know that you are welcome here, and we are eager to get to know you and for you to get to know us. For the remainder of the 2024 spring semester, your Notre Dame College student ID will get you access to all major JCU campus events, including speakers, athletic events, and student programming.

ATHLETICS

The John Carroll University Blue Streaks compete at the NCAA Division III level. John Carroll University competes in the Ohio Athletic Conference (OAC) and with the fall 2025 season will join the North Coast Athletic Conference (NCAC). See our announcement video here.

JCU Athletics is nationally competitive with top-30 finishes in the LEARFIELD Directors’ Cup in each of the last two years, along with 7 individual national championships, 55 individual All-Americans, and 29 NCAA Championship appearances since 2021.

Our coaches are excited to explore the fit between NDC student athletes and our 24 NCAA Division III program. Student athletes should email the appropriate coach to express interest and complete this recruiting form. Please note that continuing your sport at the NCAA Division III level means athletic aid received at NDC cannot be matched by JCU.

Q&A

If you are a graduate student or an undergraduate student in good standing with 60 or more earned credit hours, you will be considered a teach-out student. All other NDC students will be considered transfer students, though we will do our best to extend the same benefits guaranteed by the teach-out to our NDC transfers, particularly out-of-pocket price matching.

Students eligible for the teach out only need to supply their NDC transcript showing credit accepted by NDC. JCU will honor NDC’s transfer credit awards. Students with less than 60 credits transferring to JCU must provide transcripts from all institutions attended. JCU will make every effort to apply all credit earned. Student athletes are an exception and need to provide transcripts from all institutions attended for NCAA eligibility purposes. Finally, if NDC did not provide transfer credit on any of your previous coursework that you would like JCU to consider, you will need to submit the official transcript for evaluation.

Eligible students include currently or previously enrolled Notre Dame College students (either concurrently or having stopped out) no earlier than the spring 2023 semester. Students who have already transferred from NDC to another institution are not eligible for this offer.

Undergraduate students qualifying for the NDC teach out will be packaged according to their 23-24 NDC out-of-pocket cost (less any athletic aid) and held constant until they graduate. Transfers will be packaged to 23-24 NDC out-of-pocket cost but will be subject to JCU’s annual rate increases. Information on graduate pricing is forthcoming.

Undergraduate housing requirements will be waived for teach-outs if requested, but transfer students will be subject to our residency requirements. Students’ out-of-pocket cost will be based on their residency status at NDC. Students who commuted to NDC that would like to live on campus at JCU will be charged our room and board rate.

Your final transcript and official financial aid details will need to be provided by NDC. We’re still working out the details with Notre Dame College on how we will receive this documentation.

Yes. Undergraduate teach-out eligibility will be calculated based on the count of credits you have at the end of the spring semester. We will require your final transcript from NDC to confirm the credit.

Teach out students do not, unless they are student athletes (for NCAA eligibility) or would like JCU to review for credit courses that were not already accepted by NDC. All transfer students (less than 60 credits) are required to provide transcripts from all institutions attended.

We are working on scheduling a date for undergraduate orientation (likely May 3, to be confirmed soon) that will be only for NDC students (both teach-outs and transfers). Graduate students will be advised by their program chairs at mutually agreed upon times.

We will honor the offer of this teach-out agreement in both the fall 2024 and spring 2025 semesters, provided the student has not enrolled elsewhere between enrollment at NDC and JCU.
