Biography

Dr. Morehouse received his MA in Religious Studies from New York University and his Ph.D. in Religious Studies from the University of Manitoba. His main areas of interest center around the power struggles that took place within Christendom during the fourth century, and has published works on martyr shrines, pilgrimage, and the Emperor Julian. Additionally, he is interested in Method and Theory in Religious Studies, specifically cultural memory theory, speech act theory, and issues surrounding power and authority. While at JCU, Dr. Morehouse has taught courses on the images of Jesus, the history of the idea of evil in the West, early christian martyrdom, and the history of Christmas.
