Background

Rosanna Miguel, Ph.D., SPHR, is an associate professor in the Boler College of Business, where she teaches Management and Human Resources. Rosanna brings over twenty years of consulting experience in human resources and business psychology. Throughout her career, she has specialized in developing effective, legally defensible employee selection systems for various organizations. In addition, Rosanna has designed assessment systems that provide developmental feedback to individual contributors and managers. She has assessed and coached executives and other leaders to improve relationship management and other competencies. Rosanna holds a master’s degree and Ph.D. in Industrial-Organizational Psychology.

Courses

Dr. Miguel teaches undergraduate and graduate courses in Human Resource Management, Organizational Behavior, and Leadership.

Research

Dr. Miguel’s primary stream of research is in the use of assessment to select, recruit and retain organizational talent, particularly in public sector organizations and non-government organizations. This includes the exploration of potential mediator and moderator variables such as individual values and motivation. Her secondary stream of research is in leadership development and education. Rosanna’s research in employee selection and adverse impact, public sector motivation, and management education has been published in Journal of Business Psychology, Journal of Vocational Behavior, Journal of Management Education, Journal of Leadership Education, and Industrial and Organizational Psychology: Perspectives on Science and Practice. In addition, Rosanna has presented her research in numerous internationally recognized conferences in her field.

Additional Information

Dr. Miguel received an outstanding paper award in management education from the Southern Management Association for a paper she co-authored with Dr. Scott Allen and Dr. Nathan Hartman.
