No. John Carroll University is paying for all of the testing.

Medical professionals, including nurses and athletic trainers, will be supervising students who will self administer an anterior nasal swab test, not the more invasive nasopharyngeal swab test.

John Carroll University is partnering with Quest Diagnostics to implement COVID-19 testing. Students will be mailed a personal testing kit, which will contain instructions for how to conduct personal testing and mail samples back for analysis.

More information about the Quest Diagnostic testing program can be found here.

Yes. When you register with Quest Diagnostics you will EITHER be directed to a Quest partner testing site (such as a Walmart pharmacy) OR you will be sent a testing kit from Quest Diagnostics. To sign up with Quest Diagnostics, register here.

After you receive the testing kit, you will need to make an appointment for a video observation by a Quest health care team provider as you self-administer the nasal swab test.  You will then send your testing kit (via FedEx) to a lab where it will be processed.

Testing laboratories are required to report positive tests to the Ohio Department of Public Health, and will report test results to the Student Health Center who may share information with university officials on a need to know basis.

Students can download the Quest app and check their test results through the app.

If you test positive you should not come to campus. Call the Student Health and Wellness Center at (216) 397-4349.  The CDC guidelines state you should self-isolate (Do not leave your home/residence, except to get medical care), and monitor and take care of your symptoms.  Seek medical help if symptoms worsen and/or you have difficulty breathing.  For more information about testing positive for COVID-19 please refer to the guidelines provided by the CDC here.

You must complete the Quest Diagnostic registration process by Friday, August 28th.

Yes, we will accept your negative test result from another medical provider, however, you will be responsible for the cost of the test.  If you do not use Quest Diagnostics, please scan and email your test result to:  studenthealthcenter@jcu.edu.

Between taking the test and returning to campus, students should minimize contact with others as much as possible.  When contact with others takes place, students must practice safe behaviors including wearing a face covering, practicing physical distancing, washing hands, and completing the daily symptom assessment.

To get your test results you must sign up for MyQuest at QuestDiagnostics.com/MyQuest or download the MyQuest app.
