Institutional Review Board for the Protection of Human Participants
The Institutional Review Board (IRB) oversees research projects which involves the use of human participants. Projects are evaluated to ensure (1) the protection of the rights of the individual and (2) the quality of the research protocol since a flawed study may needlessly expose participants to risk. Potential participants should not be contacted nor should any data be collected until IRB approval has been given.
