Andrew Trew

Background
Prof. Andrew Trew specializes in Bioethics and Business Ethics and combines experience in healthcare practice and business management with teaching and research.
He has taught MBA and undergraduate courses for the Boler College of Business and the Philosophy Department, as well as Clinical Decision-Making courses for the College of Health. At JCU he also leads the annual JCU London Summer Program and was Director of the Tuohy Program on Science and Religion.,, a one year international speaker program. His courses received awards for teaching and academic innovation from the Templeton Foundation. His continuing education programs in Bioethics have included Grand Rounds in local hospitals and hospices, as a consultant to Home Instead.
For many years he taught Bioethics as Adjunct Professor at St Mary's Seminary, Cleveland, and was a member of the Bishop's Medical Moral Committee. He is a member of the Conflict-of-Interest Committee at Case/University Hospitals and the Cleveland Clinic Institutional Review Board. Co-founder, Board Member and Bioethicist of the Catholic Medical Association's Cleveland Guild.
He has held Visiting Professorships at Regent's University London,, at the Cleveland Marshall Law School, Cleveland State University, and at New York Law School.
He was Visiting Lecturer and Research Assistant at the University of Auckland and University of Canterbury Law Schools, New Zealand,
As International Scholar, he completed a clinical Bioethics Fellowship at the Cleveland Clinic. In London, he taught Computer Law and Bioethics at Westminster University and was Course Director of the Law Degree. He was awarded a Summer Fellowship at Mansfield College Oxford and was a member of PITCOM, the UK Parliament's Information Technology Committee. He is regularly invited to attend Pontifical Academy for Life meetings in the Vatican.
Management experience: Director, Cleveland Clinic Regional Hospitals' IRB; Secretary, London Small Claims Court; CEO of Legal Technology Ltd; CEO of New Media Trade Association in Britain; Company Secretary of the Information Industries Confederation, working with the British Government’s Cabinet Office , and representing information industries at the European Commission in Brussels; Consultancy/organization of major conferences for nonprofits. Speaker on Bioethics at conferences in the USA, Britain, France, Belgium, Italy, Denmark and Holland.
