Carol Schoenecker
Lecturer
Background
Dr. Carol Schoenecker is a teacher educator, rowing coach, and community builder. As an affiliate faculty member in Duquesne University’s School of Education, she works closely with pre-service teachers to explore how engaged pedagogy, social-emotional learning, and community-based experiences intersect. Carol brings this same perspective to her class in Diversity and Sport at JCU.
Outside the traditional classroom, Carol coaches rowing at Rochester Institute of Technology and collaborates with youth and adaptive rowing programs to build trauma-informed, inclusive spaces where athletes and learners can thrive. Whether in a boat or a classroom, her pedagogy is grounded in love, rigor, reflection, and shared leadership.
