Research Interests
I'm interested in the things that people 2000 years ago encountered in their daily lives and how they wrote about those things in literature and depicted those things in their art. I've worked on ancient drinking in the past, I'm also interested in textiles and the tools associated with the creation of textiles.

In addition to teaching Latin and ancient Greek language classes at all levels, some of my favorite classes I regularly teach are:- AGRS 1710: Topics in Greek History (HUM), which focuses on the Athenian democratic experiment and features a role playing game;
- AGRS 1234: Ancient and Modern Fiber Arts (CAPA), in which students learn to spin, dye, and weave wool as well as the history of textiles;
- AGRS 2110: Pompeii and Rome and Us (ISJ), which focuses on the people who lived in Pompeii in antiquity and how our understanding of that world has changed over time--this class includes a Spring Break trip to Italy
