Background
Melanie (Hahn) Ferris is the Director of Global Education, specializing in International Student & Scholar Services (ISSS) and bringing years of experience in both study abroad and global engagement. Known for her organization and proactive approach, she is dedicated to helping students navigate the process of coming to the United States and supporting them as they acclimate to their new home.
Melanie’s path to international education has been anything but linear - in the best way. She studied Sports, Entertainment, and Events Management at Johnson & Wales University in Providence, Rhode Island. She went on to work with the Red Sox minor league system, Merlin Entertainments’ SEA LIFE Aquariums and LEGOLAND Discovery Centers, and the athletic department of Angelo State University in West Texas. These roles strengthened her love for operations, people-centered work, and creating experiences that stay with others long after they happen.
What inspires her most today is helping students connect the dots - whether that’s understanding a process, finding their community, or building confidence in a new environment. Melanie believes that international education is about growth, discovery, and the moments that become memories, and she’s grateful to play a small part in each student’s journey.
