The Department of History at John Carroll prepares you to analyze the past, understand the present, and plan for the future. You'll develop critical thinking skills through research in primary and secondary sources, honing the analytical and writing abilities that law schools, graduate programs, and employers value most.

Experience history beyond the classroom with internships at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, Legal Aid Society of Cleveland, and local museums. Faculty-led study abroad programs take you to Berlin, Rome, and Tokyo. Choose your focus from American, European, Asian, African, or Latin American history and complete your degree with a senior seminar or honors thesis.
