John Carroll University welcomes exchange students from partner institutions around the world. Spend a semester or full academic year on our campus in University Heights, Ohio, earning credits toward your home degree while experiencing American university life.
Program Overview
As an exchange student at JCU, your tuition is covered through your home university's exchange agreement. You'll pay only for housing, meals, and personal expenses at JCU. You'll be a full member of the JCU community with access to all campus facilities, student organizations, and support services.

What You'll Pay
Your home university tuition covers academics at JCU. The costs below cover housing, dining, and fees billed directly by JCU. All amounts are per semester in USD.

How to Apply
Exchange students must be nominated by their home university. After nomination, you'll complete an online application with the following documents:
- Official transcripts in English
- Proof of English proficiency (TOEFL 80 iBT or IELTS 6.5)
- Nomination letter from your home institution
- Passport information page
- Financial documentation

When You Arrive
The Center for Global Education coordinates your transition to campus. You'll receive a shopping shuttle to pick up essentials, a multi-day orientation covering academics, campus life, and the Cleveland area, and a set of residence hall essentials (bedding, hangers, kitchen items) available to borrow at no charge. Events and local trips run throughout every semester.
