What to Expect
The Week That Starts Everything
Streak Week is the bridge between "I'm going to JCU" and "I'm home." In four days, you'll unpack your room, find your people, and start becoming a Blue Streak. Here's what that actually feels like.
The nervous excitement
Pulling up to campus, seeing your building for the first time, wondering if your roommate likes the same music. Everyone feels it. It's the best kind of butterflies.
The first real conversation
Maybe it's your floormate. Maybe it's the person next to you at the cookout. Somewhere in the first 48 hours, someone goes from stranger to "want to grab dinner?"
The moment it clicks
You know your way to the dining hall without checking the map. You have a favorite spot on the quad. It stops being “the school” and just becomes part of your everyday.
The "I belong here" feeling
It doesn't happen at one specific moment. It builds. And by convocation, when you're standing with your entire class, you'll feel it.

What to Bring
Cleveland in Late August
What to expect for move-in
Pack for:
- Warm, humid days
- Afternoon thunderstorms
- Cool evenings (bring a hoodie)
- Comfy shoes for lots of walking
Cleveland weather changes fast. Layers are your friend.
A Few Things We've Learned
Coordinate with your roommate before you both show up with a mini fridge. Wait on the big purchases until you see your space — Target and Walmart are 10 minutes away. Bring a few photos from home (your room should feel like yours), and honestly, pack lighter than you think. You'll accumulate plenty of JCU gear before the first week is over.
