An internship is not a requirement of this 30-credit-hour program; however, many students work with faculty mentors to find opportunities in the field that match their experiences and interests. Some students use the culminating capstone requirement to work with a sports organization on an important issue in the field.

The JCU Sports Management faculty have many years of experience in the sports industry at various levels of competition and functional areas. They bring this knowledge into their courses to support students in achieving their career goals.

It is a specialized master's degree designed for practitioners. The curriculum focuses 100% on sports-specific management—marketing, finance, and ethics—rather than general corporate theory. Data is important to all decision-making and that’s why our coursework provides a broad perspective. The Master of Arts in Sports Management program develops leaders with a strong ability to analyze and synthesize information within the sports industry context without requiring a deeper dive into other aspects of business administration such as accountancy.
