RISE SafeZone programs Fall 2021

Please join fellow members of the faculty, staff, and student body for our upcoming Safe Zone Programs:

LGBT 101 for Allies

Facilitated by the LGBT Center of Greater Cleveland

This 1-hour program is designed to provide a fundamental understanding of the Lesbian Gay Bisexual Transgender Queer (LGBTQ+) community, covering such concepts as:
  • LGBTQ terms and definitions
  • Sexual orientations vs Gender identity
  • Understanding language usage
  • The Gender Unicorn
  • Thinking outside the Binary
  • Gender Stereotypes
  • Trans Community and Transitioning
  • Use of Gender Pronouns                
  • Supporting LGBTQ People 
  • Avoiding missteps

Trans 101

Facilitated by OutSupport Medina

This 1-hour program is designed to provide a basic understanding of issues, terminology, and stereotypes related to the trans community, along with information about ways to be a supportive ally of trans people. 

OutSupport.org is a compassionate, diverse, & unconditionally loving 'Family' of LGBTQ (Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender, Questioning) individuals & their family, friends, colleagues, educators, health care professionals, community leaders etc… anyone who's touched in some way by an LGBTQ person. We meet monthly in a positive, safe, fun and empowering environment.
