Ashley Bastock '15 has been been selected for the prestigious NBC / John Carroll University "Meet the Press" Fellowship. Bastock, of Amherst, Ohio, is graduating this week with a degree in communications, and minors in political science and English. In addition to working for the campus television and radio stations, JCTV-4 and WJCU, Ashley has served as assistant sports editor for the award-winning weekly student newspaper, The Carroll News. She has successfully completed multiple internships at several Greater Cleveland area media companies, including WOIO, WJW, and CBS radio. The NBC/John Carroll University "Meet the Press" Fellowship was created in 2009 in memory of the Sunday morning program’s legendary host, Tim Russert, a 1972 graduate of John Carroll. It is awarded annually to a John Carroll graduating senior who plans to pursue a career in political journalism. The Fellowship is a nine-month position at NBC’s "Meet the Press." The fellowship affords a John Carroll graduate the opportunity to gain experience in the research and production of the weekly political talk show under the direction of the program’s executive producer. Bastock will be exposed to the roles of editor, reporter, producer, and correspondent.
