Sarah Narkin was the history department's unanimous choice for its 2011 Outstanding Senior Award. Sarah is a double major in History and Sociology with a minor in Catholic Studies. Sarah, who has been on the Dean’s List every semester at JCU and is a member of the Honors Program, has been inducted into Phi Eta Sigma (The National Honor Society), Alpha Kappa Delta (The International Sociological Society) and Alpha Sigma Nu (The Jesuit Honor Society). During her time at John Carroll, Sarah has studied abroad in London and was a Cleveland Foundation intern summer 2010. This August Sarah will be working for the Humility of Mary Sisters in a year of service in Immokalee, Florida. Well deserved, Sarah! Sarah also was the co-winner of the 2011 Women Historians of Greater Cleveland Award. She shared the award with Gillian Steiger. Gillian is a History major with a double minor in English and Modern European Studies. Gillian, who has been on the Dean’s List every semester at JCU, has served as the Officer of Affairs for John Carroll’s Pre-Law Society, and Co-President of the John Carroll English Club. In August, Gillian will begin pursuing her JD at Cleveland-Marshall College of Law.
