This event is free and open to the public. James W. Griffith, chief executive officer and president of The Timken Company, will be the guest speaker for The Mellen Series at John Carroll University on Tuesday, February 27, 2007. Under Griffith’s leadership, The Timken Company has generated record levels of revenue and improved profitability. The Mellen Series invites chief executive officers of Ohio headquartered, publicly traded firms to discuss current and expected financial developments in their companies. Past speakers of the series have included notable chief executive officers such as David A. Daberko of National City Corporation and Robert J. Keegan of Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company. Griffith joined the company in 1984 and has held positions as plant manager, vice-president of manufacturing in North America and managing director of Timken’s business in Australia. He is a member of the Management Executives Society and serves on the boards of directors of the Goodrich Corporation, the National Association of Manufacturers and the U.S.-Japan Business Council. Griffith holds a bachelor’s degree in industrial engineering and an MBA from Stanford University. The Timken Company produces innovative ways to make customers’ products run smoother, faster, and more efficiently. Their highly engineered bearings, alloy steels, and related products and services turn up everywhere with operations in 27 countries, sales of $5.2 billion in 2005 and 27,000 employees. The lecture will take place on February 27, 2007 at 5 p.m. in the LSC Conference Room which is located in the D.J. Lombardo Student Center at John Carroll University.
