Ignite Scholars is a cohort model designed to support and enrich the academic, career, social, and emotional needs of students who identify as first-generation college students.

  • Core classes studied as a cohort with dedicated faculty
  • Dedicated student support hours
  • Priority scheduling to allow time for paid internships aligned with majors
  • Peer and professional mentoring
  • Research, service learning, fellowship, and cultural experiences
  • Summer Bridge program to get a head start on the academic year

Summer Bridge

  • New student orientation session
  • Begin on-campus programming
    • August 21-22

During Academic Year

  • Ignite Scholars core curriculum courses
    • (3 per semester) on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
  • Classes within major
    • (1-2 per semester)
  • Paid internships
    • Any time on Tuesdays and Thursdays, or in the afternoons on Monday, Wednesday, and Friday
  • Student support hour
    • Monday and Wednesday at 3:30 p.m.
