Due to the sensational musical that bears his name, Alexander Hamilton has become one of the most recognizable figures of the American Revolution. Blessed with a gift for the pen and an incredible work ethic, Hamilton quickly rose to prominence within the American revolutionary movement. He became a central figure in the early American Republic, but his authoritarian streak, feuds with other Founding Fathers, and a sex scandal brought his world crashing down.

Dr. Marcus Gallo has taught courses on American and world history at John Carroll University since 2014. He received his PhD in American History from the University of California, Davis.  His research focuses on land speculation and political corruption in the early modern world.  He is currently co-authoring a biography of George Croghan, the British diplomat and long distance trader whose efforts in the Ohio Valley hastened the French and Indian War, ultimately leading to the American Revolution.
