Q. What happens if I am not cleared to come to campus because of symptoms I have reported?
If the #CampusClear App informs you you are not cleared to come to work, do not come to campus. You should then make two phone calls to discuss next steps:
Q. Is the CampusClear app used for contact tracing efforts?
While this app does not track real-time locations or movements of people and interactions, it helps to support contact tracing efforts. We will be uploading class schedule information to allow #CampusClear to cross-reference reported user information. This helps to identify possible areas of exposures and campus hot spots. Combining self-reported data with student information from course schedules provides the University with a tool for contact tracing.
Q. And how will our personal health information be shared and used in this app?
John Carroll University and Ivy.ai, the creators of #Campus Clear, are dedicated to protecting privacy of #Campus Clear users. Only authorized administrators have access to protected data and information. The University has recently created a policy which addresses this question, the Interim Symptom Assessment Application Privacy Policy. The information collected via the #CampusClear Application or other related processes may be used by the University to mitigate the risks associated with COVID-19 and related illnesses. Although information provided by Users will be treated as private information, it may be necessary to disclose information collected internally and/or externally on a need-to-know basis in order to protect the health and safety of the University and broader community.
Q. Can I refuse to use #Campus Clear? What are the repercussions of not using #Campus Clear?
Using the #Campus Clear system is the method our University is using for daily symptom assessments of our community. Employees are obligated to download the app, conduct the symptom assessment each day, and receive notification that they are “Good to Go!” prior to coming onto campus. During the COVID-19 pandemic, completing the daily symptom assessment is a condition of employment and required for all employees.
Q. Why is it important that I use #CampusClear before coming to campus?
Use of CampusClear serves two purposes. One, it will prompt all of us to consider how we are feeling and whether we may be experiencing any of the symptoms associated with COVID-19. This is an important practice to adopt in the morning before we begin our daily activities. This discipline helps to protect the community, and helps each one of us, if we are symptomatic, to have immediate access to information on where to go to get help. Secondly, providing information will create aggregated data the University can review and assess for health and safety purposes. Reports will be reviewed at minimum on a daily basis. The Ohio Department of Health has identified daily symptom assessments by all employees as a necessary and effective best practice for institutions of higher education to prevent the spread of COVID-19.
Q. If I am not coming to campus because I am approved to work remotely, do I still need to enter information into the #CampusClear app?
You do not need to utilize the app on days that you are not planning to come to campus, however it is recommended that you have the #Campus Clear App available to use in case you want to stop into your office, go to the library, or drop off paperwork. Anytime you come to campus, even if it is for brief visits, you must do the daily symptom assessment via the #CampusClear app.
Q. Do I need to complete the daily symptom assessment on my days off?
Provided you are not planning on coming to campus on your days off work, you do not need to do the daily symptom assessment on the app. It is recommended that you continue to monitor your symptoms regardless of whether you are coming to work or not.
Q. If a person doesn't have a smartphone, how will they be expected to do their daily symptom assessment? Is there a web version of this app?
If you do not have a smart phone, or prefer not to download the app, you can access the web-based version of #CampusClear via this link: https://web.ivy.ai/app/campusclear. Please save this address as a favorite in your browser, as you will access it every morning before you come to campus.
Q. Can I turn off the #CampusClear notifications?
The app is set up to send a notification to your device every morning to remind you to complete your daily symptom assessment. If the notifications are not helpful to you, you can turn them off through the Settings app on your device, but you will still need to use the CampusClear app everyday before coming to campus.
While the time of this notification cannot be changed, both Android and iOS allow you to customize notifications in various ways—for example, to set the notification to be silent so as not to wake you up. Check your device's advanced settings to edit your notification settings, and contact the Help Desk if you need further assistance.
Q. Who Created #CampusClear?
#CampusClear is a partnership initiative between Ivy.ai, Creighton University and Stony Brook University. It is being used by many colleges and universities as a key part of the return to campuses. You can learn more at the #CampusClear website.
