Biography

I am currently a visiting assistant professor of data science at the Department of Mathematics and Computer Science. After completing my undergraduate and graduate studies in statistics, I worked at the Tata Consultancy Services (TCS) as a business analyst for a couple of years in Bangalore, India. Thereafter, I  earned an MS in statistics from the University of Houston-Clear Lake, Texas, and finally completed my Ph.D. in applied mathematics from Case Western Reserve University, Ohio. The primary research focus in my Ph.D. dissertation was on numerical methods in stochastic differential equations. My current research interests are in the application of causal inference,  stochastic differential equations, and machine learning methods in epidemiology, finance, and social sciences.

Teaching Interests

My primary teaching interests are in data science and statistics focussing on topics related to machine learning, data mining, database systems, probability, mathematical statistics, regression analysis, time series analysis, and statistical computing. I also have deep interests in teaching linear algebra, calculus, and differential equations.

Research Interests

In my Ph.D. dissertation, my research focus was on numerical methods in stochastic differential equations (SDEs). In particular, I have worked on developing numerical methodologies for solving multivariate stochastic differential equations based on the Milstein scheme. My other research focus is on structural equation models based on post-intervention SDEs in a causal framework. Currently, I am also working on machine learning methods like robust clustering and classification.
